His topic: Representing Non-citizens in Criminal Matters. Doug will discuss what crimes trigger removal (deportation) proceedings, what to tell the judge and/or prosecutor about your client’s immigration status, and how post-conviction remedies can help immigrants who have unknowingly plead to deportable offenses.
Lunch will be provided by the Criminal Law Association & The Immigrant Community Legal Advocacy Project (ICLAP).
