All,
You are invited to the 3L Sendoff Party (aka After Exams Party) this Thursday, 5/15 at Longworth’s in Mt. Adams.
The party begins at 9pm with free beer (hopefully it will last all night).
We have the upstairs room to ourselves all night and karaoke begins downstairs at 10pm.
Let me know if there are any questions.
Good luck with the rest of exams!

As announced in the last two SBA meetings, the Secured Party will be held this Wednesday, April 30, from 4:30-7:30 on the lawn next to the law school.
For those who don’t know what the Secured Party is, it’s just like the lawn party held in the fall. There will be a cookout, drinks, cornhole, and, of course, the superlatives. You did get your nominations in, right?
Be sure to come out and have a good time before you start studying for finals. And if this doesn’t sound like enough fun for you, there will be an after party across the street at Woody’s where you can continue to delay responsibility for a few more hours.

The Sports & Entertainment Law Club is Proud to Announce
The softball tournament and BBQ will take place on April 19th, 2008 at Salway field. The softball games will start at 1:00pm but food and drinks will be begin at 12:30pm.
Administration, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and even participate with a faculty team to challenge the great students of the law school. I hear many of our illustrious faculty used to be quite the athlete in their younger years so maybe they can dust off some of the cobwebs and give the current students a run for their money. Students who wish to participate in the tournament may submit their teams to us over the next two weeks. If you are not on a team but still wish to play you can give us your name and we will work to add you to a team already formed.
However, for those who just want to come out and have a good time hanging with their classmates, faculty & staff, and other attorneys, there will be plenty of food and drinks and great conversations. Cost of attendance will be $3 for advanced pay non-softball players, $5 for softball players, and $8 for those non-softball players who pay at the field. Following the completion of the games, prizes will be handed out to the winning team. In addition, there will be superlatives given out to individuals based on the performance and skills on the diamond.
In order to make the teams more competitive, there are some restrictions placed on the games. Each team must be coed. The games will go for 5 innings with a 15 run rule after the second and a 10 run rule after each inning following. Additionally, no member of a lineup may bat more than twice in an inning. All other rules will follow closely with the standard rules of softball.
We hope that everyone will come out and join us with this event. In addition to all the great food and competition, our very own Don Blair will be guest umpiring. He has agreed to make sure the games are decided fairly and that each team gets no preferential treatment. Tickets will be sold over the next few weeks. Exact dates will be provided sometime monday. But be sure to bring your friends, family, neighbors, random guy you met at gas stations, and even your boss that you were looking to find a way to butter up. The more people in attendance the more fun we will all have and the more people that will get to see some of the crazy softball you will ever see.
On Behalf of the Sports & Entertainment Law Club, LET’S EAT AND PLAY BALL!!!!

ILSA will meet for the final time (not counting a possible speaker later in the month) next Wednesday, April 9 at 12:15 in room 104. During this meeting, we’ll start kicking around ideas for next year so those of you still around can hit the ground running. Elections are also happening at the end of this month, so we’ll identify an Election Commissioner at this time. All offices are available and it looks great to have a leadership position on your resume, so we hope dedicated members will consider running for office. Aspiring candidates who so wish will have a brief moment during the meeting to say a few words about their qualifications and goals.* The actual election is a secret ballot conducted in the last week of classes. News will come on that front later.
Lunch will be served. We’re going to try our darndest not to serve you pizza.
Yours in international legality,
ILSA Exec.
*Candidates may also deliver their nominations and manifestos to the Election Commissioner by April 17, when the actual nomination window closes, so if you don’t have the chance to make a speech at the meeting, you’re not out of luck.
