Maya Huffman

Candidate for President

My name is Maya Huffman, I am a current 2L, and I am running for SBA President for the 2025-2026 school year. I am running for President because of my desire to continue the legacy of great leadership UC Law SBA has seen in my time here. I believe I am a qualified candidate for this position for two reasons. First, if I were chosen for this position, I would ensure all voices of the student body are heard and valued. In uncertain times like the present, lifting each other up and giving people the space to be heard is of utmost importance. I would make it my mission to foster an environment where people feel respected and supported, as these are integral to student success in law school, and into our careers. Second, if I were chosen for this position, I would like to continue improving UC Law’s connections with the Greater Cincinnati legal community. As the current SBA Networking Co-Chair, I have had the opportunity to build personal and professional connections with a variety of Cincinnati legal professionals. I would use these connections to continue to strengthen UC Law’s relationship with the greater Cincinnati area for the benefit of the student body. As a highly involved UC Law student and a friendly face for many, it would be an absolute honor to serve my law school community as SBA President for the 2025-2026 school year.

Dom Roschival

Candidate for Vice President

To my esteemed friends of UC’s College of Law, I humbly submit my candidacy for the role of SBA Vice President. Over the past two years, SBA has been more than just an organization to me—it’s been a community. Through my roles as Secretary, Tailgate Chair, Community Co-Chair and 1L Representative, I have had the opportunity to contribute at multiple levels, from being involved in “Big Four” leadership, planning our tailgates, to curating camaraderie and involvement with my own 1L class. But beyond these titles, I’ve been deeply involved—showing up, helping where I can, and ensuring our organization runs efficiently and feels connected. My biggest priority has always been building relationships. Whether through face-to-face engagement at events or small talk next to the grill, I believe that strong personal connections are the foundations of any successful organization. As Vice President, I would continue doing just that: fostering a sense of community, bridging gaps between members, old and new, ensuring all voices are heard and validated, and making sure that SBA remains a space where everyone feels valued. SBA has given me so much, and it’s only right that I continue to return the favor. Candidate for Treasurer

I believe I would be a good fit for the role of treasurer because of my desire to help SBA run as efficiently and smoothly as possible. I'm good with numbers and I have prior experience as a treasurer for a club in law school, as well as in clubs prior to law school. I have spoken with the current and past treasurer about their experiences in the position and feel eagerly prepared to get to work, should the student body give me the honor to do so.

Julianna Kapovic

Candidate for Secretary

Hi everyone! My name is Julianna Kapovic, and I’m excited to run for SBA Secretary. As your current 1L Representative, I’ve had the opportunity to actively contribute to SBA, learning firsthand how our student government operates and how to effectively plan events that bring our law school community together. In my current role, I’ve primarily focused on organizing events for the 1L class, including the 1L Friendsgiving and the 1L Cohort Olympics—an idea I had before even becoming a rep that has now become a huge success. While I’ve loved working with my fellow 1Ls, I’m eager to take on a larger role where I can advocate for and represent the entire student body. Leadership and service have always been a core part of who I am. Since middle school, I’ve been involved in student government, and in college, I even founded my own cultural organization. I thrive on listening to my peers, understanding their concerns, and turning their ideas into action. As Secretary, I would continue fostering a law school environment where student voices are heard, events are engaging, and SBA remains a strong advocate for our community’s needs. I would be honored to serve as your next Secretary and continue making SBA an organization that enhances our law school experience. Laura Cabrera Espinal

Hello, my name is Laura Cabrera Espinal, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for SBA Secretary. I am passionate about the College of Law and dedicated to serving our student body. I would be honored to have the opportunity to contribute to this role and help further strengthen our community. As the current SLEC SBA Representative, I have gained invaluable insight into the hard work and dedication required to manage various aspects of our law school experience. From organizing events to advocating for student needs and supporting student organizations, SBA’s efforts are essential in shaping our daily experience. Without the commitment of each SBA member, our community would not be what it is today. Building a sense of community and creating spaces where all feel welcome is a goal that I strive to achieve in every aspect of my life. As your SBA Secretary, I would dedicate myself to continuing this mission and ensuring all students have an inclusive and engaging environment to thrive in. Candidate for 3L Representative

Having served as a 2L Representative in SBA and student government during undergrad, I believe I am qualified to hold this position. I love working with others and see student government as a way to give back to my 3L peers, who have been so supportive and kind to me throughout my time at UC. I will use my position in student government to host fun events, bolster our chances of success in the classroom and the Bar, and enrich our collective community experience!

Maggie Traubert

Candidate for 2L Representative

Serving as the 1L Representative for my cohort has been a great experience, and I would like to continue in this role as a 2L Representative. I’ve enjoyed contributing to event planning, keeping my cohort informed on SBA matters, and helping create opportunities for students to connect outside of academics. I think some of my favorite events, like Friendsgiving at Madtree and the Cohort Olympics, helped build our sense of community and provided a welcome break from the demands of law school. I want to continue that work as a 2L Representative by advocating for my classmates, maintaining clear communication between students and the SBA, and helping organize events that our class would attend/enjoy. I would appreciate the opportunity to keep representing our class and would be grateful for your support. :)

Ben Baioni

Candidate for 2L Representative

My name is Ben Baioni, and I am seeking election for 2L Representative for the SBA 2025-26 school year. It would be and honor and privilege to join SBA and be able to represent my classmates and the UC law community as a whole. There are three areas in particular where I want to concentrate on in SBA. First, I want to improve communication between SBA and the student body. Currently, General Council meetings are the primary avenues for students to be heard, but as a member of this year’s general council, I can tell you no non-SBA members attend. Therefore, establishing new ways of communicating with students and having students communicate with SBA will be a priority. Second, SBA holds a unique leadership position in the school. Its voice carries more weight than the average student. SBA ought to leverage its position more effectively and better advocate for students. Finally, a main job for 2L representatives is to fundraise for the graduating class and hooding ceremony. One of my priorities will be to bolster current initiatives, create new ones, and build a greater culture of supporting the 3Ls that can be continued by future SBAs. I believe I am capable of achieving these things I set out. My experience with Honor Council and as a 1L representative for two student organizations has provided me with the necessary planning, communication, and advocacy skills needed to be a 2L representative. My name is Jake Lynn, and I am grateful to be considered for a 2L Representative position. I want to serve as a 2L Representative because of my innate passion for advocacy. In this role, I believe I would be an effective advocate by representing the interests of my peers while promoting community building throughout the law school. Whether you are an introvert or someone simply trying to navigate this new stage of life, I am committed to ensuring your voice is genuinely valued and heard. It is my mission to be as approachable as possible and I will never turn down an opportunity to hear your story. I know what it’s like to be underrepresented and how isolating it feels when it seems like no one is in your corner. One of my favorite quotes is “There could be 100 people in a room and 99 of them don’t believe in you, but all it takes is one person to believe in you and that could change everything.” If you are still looking for that person—someone to believe in you—I will always be a safe person you can turn to for support, no matter what. It would truly be an honor to serve my classmates in this capacity. I am extremely thankful for each day I get to be surrounded by such extraordinary people. Candidate for 2L Representative

To those of you who signed my petition, thank you so much for taking the extra time out of your lunch to support me! I hope with this nomination, I can return the favor and more throughout the course of our relationship, including long after law school has passed. To the entire Class of 2027, my goal as a 2L Representative is to listen to you, support you, and make your law school journey as enjoyable as possible. Of course, this is not an entirely selfless endeavor. I want this position because I am happy when I try to do kind things for others. When the “others” are my classmates, it just sweetens the deal. A position in SBA will help keep me honest about devoting my time towards making our collective law school experience a good one. I believe I am a good representative to fairly and adequately protect the interests of this class. I can get too confident in myself, but I have also been wrong often enough to acknowledge my faults and listen to others. I believe these qualities make me a good teammate. Having served as a 1L Representative, I’ve gained valuable insight into the inner workings of our school, allowing me to effectively plan engaging events and provide the support you need to make law school more manageable. Beyond my experience, I truly enjoy bringing people together and creating a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment at UC Law.
